Outdoor activities

Let's go on a bikeride together

Saturday, June 28th, the Icelandic Rhubarb Association, in collaboration with the bicycle shop Örninn, is organizing a group cycling event in the old town of Blönduós. The group will cycle from the old town up towards the lake Svínavatn where refreshments will be served (marked with a red circle on the map).

From there, they will cycle around the lake and back down to Blönduós where the rhubarb festival will take place. Those who are not highly experienced bikers can turn back after the rest by the lake and head back the same route to Blönduós. You can download the gpx of the route here:

The entire route is 58 kilometers with the heightening (ekki viss) of 626meters. A shorter version is 36 kilometers with a maximum heightening (ekki viss) of 200 meters. For those who want more, you can cycle a little further and rice over to Blöndulón (130kilometers) — see the route here: https://www.strava.com/routes/3218159945078080532
